十年前，刘道玉的《大学校长告白》证明了1949年后中国高等教育的兴衰——20世纪50年代，武大化学系毕业；20世纪60年代留在苏联；1977年任中华人民共和国国家教育部部长，“为恢复统一高考发挥了巨大作用”；从1981年开始，他担任武大校长七年，可谓是他和学校的黄金时代——“率先推动从教学内容到管理体制的一系列改革措施:学分制、转学制、大辅修制、分班制、导师制、贷款制、事假制等。，拉开了高等教育改革的序幕。”

如今，电话里不由自主的大声“你好”告诉老人他在失聪后有多焦虑。自1988年被解除校长职务以来，他内心的担忧一直存在。

在接受《人民日报》独家采访时，刘道玉直言不讳——“我认为中国教育的现状是一种狂热和浮夸的状态”，并尖锐地指出了这些异常现象背后的社会基础。他呼吁教育部坚决下放权力，赋予大学自主办学和招生的权利。

事实上，他在2009年发表的“消肿祛癖”的“药方”中明确提出:第一，教育改革要从体制改革入手。“必须抛弃统一的教育领导体制”；其次，我们必须摒弃旧的教育理念和模式。

论文:你关注过最近两次“名校风波”——“复旦大学110周年校庆宣传片被指部分抄袭”、“清华北大招生办粗暴”、“争抢高分学生”吗？

刘道玉:我非常担心最近的“名校风波”。作为一名老年教育家，我对这些丑闻感到非常难过。这些事件绝非偶然，而是我国高等教育诸多问题积累发酵的必然结果。中国大学庆典的“文化”已经泛滥，几乎每个学校都在吹嘘。复旦大学110周年校庆宣传片，抄袭国外著名大学的宣传片，完全亵渎了大学严谨求实的精神。这些抄袭行为不仅显示了中国大学缺乏创新精神，也反映了中国大学的极端虚荣。必须指出的是，抄袭在我国有着深厚的社会基础，抄袭是高校、企业、文化和影视作品中的普遍现象。近年来，在我国，山寨工厂普遍存在，假货盛行，最近大量淘宝村流行，都是靠抄袭来获取暴利的。

论文:如果“抄袭”是社会普遍现象，你作为一个老校长，是不是更习惯于从高校里抢来高素质的学生空？

刘道玉:实际上，这两所学校的招生规模都是一流的，而不是今天。他们争夺所谓的一号冠军已经很久了。从2011年开始，以清华为首的“华月”引进了10多所大学，北大不甘示弱，组织了一个“北约”，网络化了10多所大学，与清华对峙，恶性竞争。一开始我说所谓的联盟肯定是短命的，可惜我是对的。这场骂战简直是一场轻轻的扫地，失去了以身作则当老师的起码资格。这种对所谓尖子生的争夺，仍然是应试教育思想的错，也是我们学校对培养学生能力缺乏信心的表现。高分的学生只能装饰我们学校的门面。这些高分的学生除了统计和宣传意义之外没有任何作用，只是把脸弄得又肿又胖。有人说全国顶尖学者有一半进了北大清华，但播下的龙种是跳蚤。这难道不应该改变吗？

论文:如果你还是校长，你会如何解决“高分学生”这个实际问题？众所周知，高校围绕学生的暗战由来已久。

刘道玉:我一直认为高校招生工作中重要的不是考试和分数，而是录取，录取需要智慧。如果我还是一所大学的校长，我会对状元说“不”，这样会以高分冲淡学生。我将通过改革招生方式，设计几套评估学生个性、智力、求异、质疑、批判和冒险精神的课程。即使有些学生分数不是很高，只要有成为优秀人才的素质，我都会优先考虑。为了做到这一点，我会花时间培训招聘人员，要求他们转变观念，树立体面的作风，践行高尚的职业道德，具备明辨人才的能力和方法。

报纸:教育界有很多人和你一样有改革意识。值得探讨的是如何防止大家的呼吁和建议一次次变成“套话”。

刘道玉:在统一考试、统一录取分数线的情况下，大学自主招生只是名义上的，无法实施。民国时期，吴晗和钱钟书数学都是零分，但当时都能被罗嘉伦校长录取。现在的大学校长有这样的权力吗？这再次体现了大学自主办学、自主招生是不可剥夺的权利。教育部能否赋予大学这些权力？

论文:那么就像你说的，应试教育的观念一时难以改变，大学自主招生无法实施。在这种现状下，考生如何获得值得信赖的指导，从而找到未来的方向？

刘道玉:我一直认为大学生能否成为优秀人才与名校或名师无关。如果和名牌大学有关，北大清华的学生都应该是优秀人才，其实不是。相反，非名牌大学有很多优秀的人才。一个大学生能否成为人才，只看他自己，具体看他自己的兴趣、理想和执着的追求。

现在不仅大学有极端的虚荣心，相当一部分考生也有虚荣心。盲目追求名牌大学和高学历是虚荣的表现。最初，研究生学位是为学术研究而设计的。商务、官员、实际工作人员戴博士帽有什么好处？

今年1月6日，光明日报《教育周刊》刊登了我的一篇文章，题为《是什么决定了大学生的成功》，具体提出了任何人只要具备五个重要素质就可以成为一个优秀的人才:“爱读书，善于自学，超强记忆力，文理通才，悟性强”。相反，一个人即使进了名校，获得了高学历，高学历，但没有悟性，也永远成不了优秀的人才。

报纸:你过去多次指出，中国教育的发展已经取代了改革。从大学的负面新闻来看，中国教育的发展走了多远？会是什么方向？

刘道玉:今年是《关于中国教育体制改革的决定》发表30周年，这是20世纪80年代高等教育改革的纲领性文件。我觉得这份文件的精神并没有过时，只是现在很多人不知道这份文件。文件指出，教育改革要从体制改革入手，抓住这个问题，就不会误入歧途。教育体制如何改革？首先是改变教育部的统一领导体制。教育部必须坚决下放和转变职能，把基础教育的权力下放给各省市，把大学的权力下放给大学。

发展是数量的增加，规模的扩大，条件的改善；改革是教育观念的转变，是办学模式的更新，是课程体系的变革，是教育质量的提高。在我看来，中国教育的现状是一种狂热和浮夸的状态。虽然中国中学生的考试成绩在世界上名列前茅，世界大学排名也在节节攀升，但都是量的叠加，根本不能反映中国大学的真实学术水平。如果中国的大学没有很多诺贝尔奖获得者，没有国际公认的学术大师，没有国际公认的科学流派，就无法培养出国际公认的学术带头人。即使《泰晤士报教育周刊》将北大和清华列为世界前十，也不能算是世界级大学。因为世界上的大学排名本身就是一种商业行为和误导，而中国的一些大学却津津乐道于自己排名的上升，纯粹是为了满足虚荣心的需要。全世界有很多大学，公开抵制大学排名。中国大学对大学排名也应该说“不”。
