Among the gorgeous exhibits displayed in the Sanxingdui museum, one of the most stunning and attractive cultural relics is the “reborn” bronze tree dating back three thousand years ago and unearthed from the No.2 sacrificial pit. This bronze tree is 396cm in height with excellent shape and unique design, it is not only the treasure of the museum but also the largest bronze discovered in the whole world so far.
The bronze tree was unearthed in 1986, which was originally broken into over 70 pieces, this national treasure finally got completed and reborn to this world after eight years of unremitting efforts made by the cultural relic restoration team.
The application of this bronze tree at that time is still a mystery. Its delicate and mysterious design shows that this tree is unlikely to be a life on earth. Scientists have made a bold guess that this bronze tree may have been a medium for ancestors of ancient Shu to communicate with the gods in heaven. No matter whether it really had such magical power or not, this bronze tree expresses the fantastic dream of Chinese ancestors for pursuing hope , vitality and closer communication with gods.
