Senior middle school graduates students of our school have different opinions on how to choose their courses and universities.

About 35% of the students believe the choice should be based on their own interests. They say interest is the mother of success. It is a miserable thing to have to spend most of your time studying what you have no interest in.

Most of the students, however, insist that main consideration should be given to the needs of our society. They argue that not everyone can find the job they like best. Besides, interest is not something unchangeable. We can always develop it.

Interestingly, about 20% of the students find it difficult to make a choice and would rather depend on their parents or teachers to make a decision for them.

Guangming High School is in the west of the city. When you enter the school gate, you can find the teaching building on your left and the gymnasium on your right. Walking on further, you can see a round building which is the library in the middle of the campus. The building on the northwest corner serves as the dining hall and the building opposite it on the northeast corner is the students 'dormitory.

The high school has a history of nearly 100 years. There are about 5000 students studying here and a teaching staff of about 300. The campus covers an area of 24000 square meters with bushes and flowers surrounding every building, which provides a quiet and beautiful environment for the students.

I am a Senior 3 student. I often quarrel with my parents over whether I can watch TV after school.

My parents hold the opinion that I should study hard so that I will have more choices in the future. Besides, they consider that it is harmful to my eyes to watch TV too often. But in my view, it is TV that gives me something that I am interested in. In addition, it may relax my mind when I am tired, in which case the efficiency of my study will be improved.

In the end we reached an agreement. Only at weekends am I allowed to watch TV, however, the programs are limited to news, sports and entertainment, not including TV plays. This agreement is acceptable to me for it is beneficial to my study and life.

Since the end of last year, fog and haze weather has occurred a lot in some areas of China, which has done great harm to our daily life. Many traffic accidents happened because of the bad weather. I was so surprised to see so many immoral behaviors in public. For example, some people spit at will wherever they go. Some scratch their names on the walls or other buildings, which does great damage to them. Some just litter here and there.

As far as I'm concerned, it's high time we did something to help improve the situation. First, certain laws should be passed to make sure people won't damage the environment. Hello, everybody! Nowadays, people keep dogs or cats as pets. But sometimes some get lost while being walked. Still some are left alone outside. More and more homeless animals become seriously sick or starving. We must do something to protect them.

We can learn how to rescue animals by attending training classes. With what we learn we can work as volunteers in the animal rescue centers. Besides, when seeing homeless pets in need, we can adopt them, providing daily care for them.

The public are to be educated about the importance of caring for homeless animals. Animals are friends of human beings. They also have the right to be safe and loved.

How are things going? In your last letter you talked about low carbon life. Now I'd like to share my understanding of it and my experiences in the past few months.
