☆塞俄比亚和苏丹的食物短缺、人民挨饿的消息震惊了迈克尔· 杰克逊和莱昂内尔·里奇，迈克尔杰克逊认为自己"该做点什么"，于是他们合写了这首歌曲。

两人费了四天的时间写曲，里奇先完成一部分，杰克逊看到后灵感大发，一夜之间就把全曲写好。
