4月22日晚17时许，怀化市溆浦县慕童湖乡银角田村5组发生一起故意杀人案。凶手杀死一名7岁男童，砍伤一名14岁女童后逃离现场。24日下午，受害者家属赶到潇湘晨报，称女孩急需医药费，希望得到好心人的帮助。

被砍的女孩是三年级的彭霞。彭霞的表妹王翔告诉《潇湘晨报》记者，22日下午，彭霞和他9岁的妹妹和7岁的弟弟正在家里做作业。一个男人突然拿着菜刀从侧门闯进来，抓住弟弟要砍。彭霞很快照顾好她的妹妹，把她推出去。楼上的家长听到声音，赶紧下楼。凶手已经走了，他的兄弟已经喘不过气来。小霞遭受了多处刺伤。
